How to use GlideClip, step by step. Search below, or contact support@glideclip.com.
Getting started
How to get started with GlideClip
Open GlideClip, then click Choose video to open a recording you have, or Create clip to record your screen. The editor has three areas in the left rail - Make it safe, Studio and AI data.
GlideClip works in your browser. Your video stays on your computer the whole time.
- Open GlideClip on a computer, in a current Chrome or Edge.
- On the start screen, click Choose video to pick a recording, or drag a video onto the page.
- To record something new, click Create clip instead.
- To carry on from a saved project, click Open a saved project, then choose the video it was made from.
- To put several clips together first, click Join clips, or choose or drop more than one video.
Once a video is open, the switch at the top of the left rail has three areas:
- Make it safe: What to look for, Review blurs and Export safe copy. Finds and blurs sensitive text.
- Studio: Callouts, Edit, Frame & brand, Intro & outro, Audio, Render and Series. Turns the recording into a training video.
- AI data: step summaries and an export for your own AI tools.
Tips:
- Start in Make it safe and click Prepare video. Callout suggestions and AI features need this scan first.
- The preview is in the middle and the TIMELINE is at the bottom.
- Show blurs above the preview turns the blur preview on and off.
How to join several clips into one video
Click Join clips on the start screen (or choose several videos at once), put the clips in order, pick the video size and what goes between clips, then click Join. The joined video opens in the editor.
Join clips puts several videos in order and makes one video to edit. Your original clips aren't changed.
- On the start screen, click Join clips. Choosing or dropping more than one video also opens it.
- Add clips with + Create clip or + Choose videos.
- Use the up and down arrows to change the order. Use × to remove a clip.
- To redo a part, click Re-record (recorded clips) or Replace (chosen videos).
- Under Video size, pick Like clip 1 or 16:9 (1920 × 1080).
- Under Between clips, pick Straight cut, Quick fade or Name card.
- Click Join N clips. You need at least 2 clips.
- When it says Joined, click Start editing or Save a copy....
Good to know:
- Quick fade dips through black and adds no time. Name card shows a 2-second card with the next clip's name, so it adds time.
- A clip with a different shape is fitted in, with your brand colour around it.
- Keep the tab open while it joins. It runs on your computer.
- Your joined videos lists past joins. Use Open, Edit clips to change the order, or × to forget one.
- Clear this list removes clips that no saved join needs.
- After a recording, Record another clip in Recording ready starts a clip list too.
How to record your screen in GlideClip
Click Create clip on the start screen, choose your microphone, click Choose what to record, pick the window or tab in your browser's picker, and record after a 3-second countdown. Click Stop and open in GlideClip when you're done.
You can record your screen and voice straight into GlideClip. Nothing is uploaded.
- On the start screen, click Create clip.
- Tick Record my microphone and pick your microphone. Speak and check that the level bar moves.
- Tick Include the sound from the tab or computer, when the browser offers it if you want that sound too.
- Click Choose what to record.
- In your browser's picker, choose the window, tab or screen you're demonstrating, not GlideClip itself.
- Switch to that window during the 3-second countdown.
- Use Pause and Resume as needed. Click Stop and open in GlideClip to finish. The browser's "Stop sharing" button also stops it.
- In Recording ready, click Start editing, Save a copy... or Record another clip.
Good to know:
- Sharing your whole screen gives a standard 16:9 video. A window or tab is recorded at its own size.
- The recording is kept in this browser's storage. Use Save a copy... if you want it as a separate file.
- Record another clip keeps this one and records the next part, so you can join them.
- Recording works in Chrome and Edge. The Create clip button is hidden on phones and in browsers that can't record the screen.
- If GlideClip says it can't hear your microphone, check the mute button on your headset or keyboard, then your system's sound input settings.
Making it safe
How to always blur names, words, label values and money amounts
In What to look for, list names in "Names or words to always blur" and labels such as Balance in "Blur the value next to these labels". Tick Money amounts to blur prices and balances.
The scan finds emails, phone numbers and IDs on its own. Names and other words need to be listed.
Blur names or words:
- Open Make it safe > What to look for.
- In Names or words to always blur, one per line, type each name or word, for example "Acme Corp" or "Jane Smith".
- Make sure Your own terms (below) is ticked.
- Click Prepare video.
Blur the value next to a label:
- In Blur the value next to these labels, one per line, type labels such as "Balance" or "Account".
- Click Prepare video.
Whatever follows the label, to its right or just below it, is blurred. The label stays readable. This also uses the Your own terms switch.
Blur money amounts:
- Tick Money amounts ($1,234.56, +250.00). The Public: anyone level ticks it for you.
Tips:
- Names are matched loosely, so small reading mistakes still match.
- If you change the lists after preparing, click Prepare video again so the scan finds the new words.
- Listed names are also replaced by [REDACTED] in text sent to AI.
How to prepare a video and choose who will see it
In Make it safe > What to look for, pick who will see the video, check the categories to blur, then click Prepare video. The scan runs on your computer and finds emails, phone numbers, web addresses, long ID numbers, money amounts and your own terms.
Preparing reads the screen, finds sensitive text and notes what callouts need.
- Open Make it safe > What to look for.
- Under Who will see this video?, pick a level: - Internal: my company only hides emails, phone numbers and your listed names. Record IDs and web addresses stay readable. - Partners or customers also hides web addresses. - Public: anyone hides everything it finds, including ID numbers and money amounts. - No blurring needed blurs nothing. - Custom is your own mix of categories.
- Check the categories: Email addresses, Phone numbers, Web addresses, Long ID numbers (6+ digits), Money amounts and Your own terms.
- Click Prepare video. A bar shows progress.
About No blurring needed:
- Review blurs and Export safe copy step aside. They come back if you draw a box or tick a category.
- The scan still runs. Callouts and AI need it.
- If the scan finds something, a note says so, for example "We noticed 3 emails on screen." Click Blur them or Leave them.
- AI requests are still masked, whatever level you pick.
Tips:
- The scan also reads light text on dark areas, such as pop-ups and dark address bars.
- Very small or blurry text can be missed. Always review the result.
How to review blurs, keep text visible and draw a blur box
In Make it safe > Review blurs, untick anything that shouldn't be blurred and click Draw a blur box to cover what the scan missed. Add words to "Never blur these" to keep them visible every time.
Every video needs a person to check it. The scan can miss very small or blurry text.
- Click Prepare video first. Then open Make it safe > Review blurs.
- Each found value is listed once, with when it first appears and how many times.
- Click an item to jump to the next place it appears.
- Untick an item to keep it visible. This applies to every appearance of it.
- To cover something the scan missed, click + Draw a blur box, then drag on the video. Or press B.
- Each box is listed as Blur box 1, Blur box 2 and so on. Set From and To to limit when it shows. Click ✕ to remove it.
Keep words visible every time:
- Go to What to look for.
- Type them in Never blur these, one per line, for example a demo account number.
On the timeline:
- Each blur shows as a bar. Drag an end to blur for longer or shorter.
- Drag the middle of a blur box's bar to move it.
Tips:
- The number next to Review blurs counts what will be blurred.
- Undo (Ctrl+Z) covers ticking, unticking and boxes you drew.
- A company policy can make some items always blurred. Those can't be kept visible.
How to save your blur settings as a preset
Set up the categories and word lists in What to look for, then click Save as preset… under the sharing level and give it a name. Your preset then appears under My presets in "Who will see this video?".
A preset saves your blur setup under your own name, so you can pick it again in one click.
- Open Make it safe > What to look for.
- Tick the categories you want and fill in the word lists: always blur, label values and never blur.
- Under the sharing level hint, click Save as preset….
- Type a name, for example "Client demos", and click Save.
Use a preset:
- Open Who will see this video? and pick it under My presets. Its categories and word lists fill in.
- If the video was already prepared and the words changed, click Prepare video again.
Change or remove a preset:
- Pick it, change the settings, then click Update “name”.
- Saving with an existing name replaces that preset.
- Click Delete to remove the preset you picked.
Good to know:
- Presets are kept in this browser. With Pro on the hosted site, they also sync to your account.
- Save as series includes the preset you picked, so a series brings it along.
- If your company sets its own presets, they replace the list, and Save as preset… is hidden.
Editing
How to level the voice and fade the sound
Open Studio > Audio, tick Level the voice, pick Quieter, Standard or Louder, and tick a fade if you want one. The final render (Pro) applies these settings.
Levelling evens out your narration so quiet and loud parts sound alike. It doesn't re-record or change what you said.
- Open Studio > Audio.
- Tick Level the voice.
- Under Loudness, pick one: - Quieter: -18 LUFS, for courses and presentations in a quiet room. - Standard: -14 LUFS, the level YouTube and most players use. Right for most videos. - Louder: -11 LUFS, for phones and social feeds in noisy places.
- Under Fades, tick Fade in over the first second or Fade out over the last second if you want them.
Good to know:
- Levelling also limits the peaks, so nothing clips.
- The final render uses these settings. Render final video needs Pro.
- Callout previews and the safe copy keep the original sound.
- The settings are saved with the series.
- With Level the voice off, the sound keeps its own loudness.
- The Done message after a render says how much the sound was levelled.
- If your browser can't encode the sound, it is copied unlevelled and the status line says so.
How to trim the start and end and cut out part of a video
In Studio > Edit, click Start here and End here to trim, or Cut from here and …to here to remove a middle part. You can also drag across the timeline and choose Cut.
Edits take out what viewers don't need. The preview skips cut parts, and the final render leaves them out, sound included.
Trim the start and end:
- Open Studio > Edit.
- Move the playhead to where the video should start. Click Start here.
- Move it to where the video should end. Click End here.
- To go back, click Undo trim.
Cut out a part:
- Move the playhead to where the part begins. Click Cut from here.
- Move it to where the part ends. Click …to here.
- Each cut is listed. Click ✕ to keep that part after all.
On the timeline:
- Drag across the timeline to select a stretch. Choose ✂ Cut, Keep only this or Cancel.
- Click a cut part to choose Keep … after all.
- Edges snap to pauses in the sound, screen changes and the playhead.
Transitions:
- Fade through black at each cut is on by default.
- Fade in from black at the start and Fade out to black at the end are optional.
Good to know:
- Times are in the original recording. Callouts keep their times, so a callout inside a cut part is cut too.
- The note under Trim shows the new length, including intro, outro and pause cards.
- Export safe copy can use the same trim with Trim the safe copy the same way.
How to use the timeline
The timeline at the bottom shows screen pictures, cards, highlights, the sound and the blurs over time. Click to move the playhead, drag a callout to change when it shows, drag across it to cut, and use + / − or Ctrl + wheel to zoom.
The TIMELINE sits under the preview. Its rows are Screens, Cards, Highlights, the sound and the blurs.
Move around:
- Click anywhere to move the playhead. Drag the playhead to scrub.
- Click + or − to zoom in or out, or hold Ctrl and turn the mouse wheel.
- Click Fit to show the whole video again.
- When zoomed in, turn the wheel or drag the strip at the bottom to move along.
- The arrow before TIMELINE hides or shows the timeline for more preview room.
Change callout timing:
- Drag a card or highlight to move it. Its bullets move with it.
- Drag either end to make it start or end at another time.
Change blur timing:
- Drag either end of a blur's bar to blur for longer or shorter.
- Drag the middle of a blur box's bar to move it.
Cut and trim:
- Drag the start or end edge of the video to trim it.
- Drag across an empty stretch, then choose ✂ Cut, Keep only this or Cancel.
- Click a hatched (cut) part to keep it after all.
Tips:
- Edges snap to pauses in the sound, screen changes, the playhead, cuts and other callouts.
- In the sound row, bumps are talking and shaded parts are pauses.
- Undo (Ctrl+Z) reverses timeline changes.
Keyboard shortcuts and undo
Press ? in the editor to see every shortcut, such as Space to play, C for a card, H for a highlight and B for a blur box. Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y undo and redo.
Press ? or click the shortcut hint under the preview to see the list.
| Key | What it does | | --- | --- | | Space or K | Play / pause | | , and . | Back / forward one frame | | ← and → | Back / forward 1 second (with Shift: 5 seconds) | | Home and End | Start / end of the video | | C | New callout card at the playhead | | H | Draw a highlight box | | B | Draw a blur box | | I and O | Selected callout starts / ends at the playhead | | Delete | Delete the selected callout | | Esc | Stop drawing, or deselect the callout | | Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y | Undo / redo |
Undo and redo:
- Use the arrow buttons at the top left, or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y (or Ctrl+Shift+Z).
- Undo covers callouts, trims, cuts and fades, and the blur review: boxes you drew and items you ticked or unticked.
- A burst of typing or one drag counts as one step.
- Up to 100 steps are kept while the video is open. A new video starts a new history.
Good to know:
- Shortcuts pause while you type in a field.
- In a text field, Ctrl+Z undoes your typing in that field.
Callouts
How to change the callout style and where cards sit
Pick a Callout style (Card, Bubble, Lower third, Tooltip or Minimal) in Studio > Frame & brand. Move a card with the Position grid in its editor or by dragging it on the preview.
Set a style for all callouts:
- Open Studio > Frame & brand.

Place a card:
- Select the card in Studio > Callouts.
- Click a spot in the Position grid. Top right is the default.
- Or drag the card on the preview. Drop it anywhere, or near a spot to snap to it.
- A card placed by hand says so. Click a grid spot to snap it back.
Point a bubble:
- A Bubble points at the highlight that's up at the same time.
- Click Pick a spot, then click the preview where it should point. Press Esc to cancel.
- Drag the ring on the preview to move the point. Pick again chooses a new one.
- Point at its highlight goes back to the highlight.
Tips:
- The selected card has a dashed outline on the preview while it's on screen.
- Bottom cards slide up into place.
How to edit a callout card or highlight box
Click a callout in Studio > Callouts to open its editor and change its kind, times, text, bullets, images or highlight box. Click Preview to see it as the final video will show it.
- In Studio > Callouts, click a callout in the list or on the timeline.

Tips:
- Press I or O to set the selected callout's start or end at the playhead.
- Press Delete to remove the selected callout.
How to get suggested callouts
Open Studio > Callouts and click Suggest callouts to get step cards and highlight boxes from your narration and screen. Built-in suggestions are free and run on your computer; AI suggestions need Pro.
Callouts are the cards and highlight boxes that explain each step on screen.
- Open Studio > Callouts.
- Optional: paste your script into Your script (optional). Lines like "Step 3: Apply the tag" become numbered step cards.
- Optional: tick AI suggestions for more and better-timed callouts (Pro).
- Click Suggest callouts. It prepares the video and transcribes the narration first if needed.
- Read the list. Untick anything you don't want. Click a title to retype it.
- Click a callout to open the editor.
Built-in or AI:
- Built-in suggestions use rules, the narration, the screen text and your script. They run on your computer and are free.
- AI suggestions (Pro) are written by Claude from text only. Everything the scan found is replaced by [REDACTED] first. The video and audio are never sent.
Good to know:
- Suggesting again replaces the list. Undo (Ctrl+Z) brings the old one back.
- The AI may also suggest a header. It only fills header fields that are empty.
- With AI, asking again with nothing changed gives the same set. Shift-click Suggest callouts for a fresh one.
- Add your own with + Card (or press C) and + Highlight (or press H).
- Show callouts on the preview hides or shows them while you edit.
- Title Case headings (Capitalize Each Word) changes how headings look.
How to show step title cards, a step list and a step bar
Turn on Segment cards in Studio > Callouts for a title card at each new step, or use the Studio frame or Step bar for viewers in Frame & brand. All are built from cards with eyebrows like STEP 1.
These features read your numbered step cards. Give cards an eyebrow like "STEP 1", "STEP 2".
Segment cards:
- Open Studio > Callouts and scroll to Segment cards.
- Tick On.
- Pick a Style: - Banner: over the video, adds no time - Pause card: holds the video, adds time
- Pick How long: 2, 3 or 4 seconds.
- Tick The step's first bullet as a subtitle if you want it.
The note under the settings lists where each card goes. Pause cards also say how much time they add.
Step list beside the video:
- In Studio > Frame & brand, set Frame to Studio: framed, with a step list beside the video.
- Done steps are ticked and the current one is lit.
- Step cards as a checklist in the side panel (keeps them off the video) is on by default.
Step bar:
- In Frame & brand, tick Step bar for viewers. It shows "Step 2 of 4" and one segment per numbered step.
Good to know:
- Unticked cards don't count.
- With the Framed frame, the progress line gets a dot for each step.
- In the preview, a pause card holds the video, then playback carries on.
How to transcribe the narration
Open Studio > Callouts and click Transcribe narration; speech-to-text runs on your computer. The transcript is used to suggest callouts and to fill in AI data.
The transcript tells GlideClip what you said and when. It never leaves your computer.
- Open Studio > Callouts.
- Click Transcribe narration.
- Wait for the bar to finish. It says Transcript ready with the number of lines.
- To run it again, click Transcribe again.
What the transcript is used for:
- Suggest callouts uses it to time cards and highlights to when you say things.
- AI data shows each step's narration in What was said (redacted) and uses it for summaries.
- The AI data export includes the redacted narration as captions.
Good to know:
- Suggest callouts runs the transcription first if it's missing, so you don't have to click both.
- The speech model is downloaded when you use it. Only data comes in; your audio is never sent.
- A long video takes a few minutes.
- If your company or your edition turns transcription off, the button isn't shown.
- If it fails, the message under the button says why. Try again, or check the video has a sound track.
How to turn on AI suggestions and what they send
Tick AI suggestions in Studio > Callouts (Pro); on the hosted site there is no key to enter, elsewhere you paste your own Anthropic API key. Only text is sent, with everything the scan found replaced by [REDACTED].
AI suggestions write callouts with Claude. They need Pro.
- Click Prepare video in Make it safe first. AI only ever sees text the scan has masked.
- Open Studio > Callouts and tick AI suggestions.
- On the hosted site with Pro, nothing else is needed. Elsewhere, paste your key into Anthropic API key.
- Click Suggest callouts.
What is sent:
- The transcript, the on-screen labels, your script and the current header, as text.
- Everything GlideClip found is replaced by [REDACTED], whatever audience you chose.
- Only your "never blur" list is kept as written.
- Never the video, audio or pictures.
Where it goes:
- Hosted site with Pro: through GlideClip's site to Anthropic.
- Your own key: straight to Anthropic.
- Company plan: through your company's own AI key.
Good to know:
- Your key is remembered in this browser only.
- The box remembers whether you left it on.
- A company policy can turn AI off. Then you get built-in suggestions only.
- Sent from this tab in the top bar counts every byte the page sends.
Look and brand
How to add an intro and outro card
In Studio > Intro & outro, tick the Intro or Outro card, pick a template and type the title and subtitle. The cards are full-screen and add time before or after the recording.
- Open Studio > Intro & outro.
- Click Intro or Outro.
- Tick Intro card, before the recording or Outro card, after the recording.
- Pick a Template. Starters include Title only, How-to: what you'll learn, Educational disclaimer, Thanks for watching and Next steps + link.
- Type the Title and Subtitle.
- Under Text blocks, edit the text. Choose Regular or Small print for each. Click + Add text block for more, or × to remove one.
- Under On screen for, keep Auto or click Set my own and type the seconds.
Fill-ins:
- Use {series}, {n}, {video} and {date}. They come from Studio > Series and today's date.
Save and reuse:
- Click Save as template (Pro) and name it. It appears under My templates.
- Delete template removes one of yours. Cards already using it keep their text.
- Copy disclaimer text copies the small print, so you can paste it into the video description too.
Good to know:
- The cards add time, so they never cover the recording.
- Auto timing is long enough to read every word at a relaxed pace, at least 4 seconds.
- Press play from the start of the preview to see the intro.
- In a company plan, a required company card is always on. Its wording is fixed, but the title and subtitle are yours.
How to add your logo, font and brand colours
In Studio > Frame & brand > Brand kit, type your company name, add a Logo and Font, and pick your colours. Save it with Save as series (Pro) so every video matches.
A brand kit gives your videos your own logo, font and colours.
- Open Studio > Frame & brand and open Brand kit.
- Type your company Name.
- Click Logo and choose an image (PNG, JPEG, WebP or SVG).
- Click Font and choose a font file (.woff2, .woff, .ttf or .otf). Without one, the theme font is used.
- Pick colours for Background, Panel, Accent, Text, Success, Caution and Warning.
- Drag Corner roundness to taste.
- To keep it for other videos, click Save as series in Studio > Series (Pro).
Where it shows:
- Framed and Studio frames use the brand background and logo.
- In Banner, the logo replaces the accent bar at the left.
- Intro and outro cards and title cards show the logo.
- Step and info cards use the accent colour. Warnings, conditional steps and successes keep red, amber and green meaning in your shades.
Good to know:
- The kit's colours replace the theme.
- The logo and font are saved inside the series file, so the video looks the same on any computer.
- Remove brand kit clears it.
- With Pro on the hosted site, your brand kit syncs to your account.
- In a company plan, an admin can lock the company's kit. Then only an admin can change it.
How to choose a frame, theme and header
In Studio > Frame & brand, pick a Frame (Banner, Framed or Studio), a Theme and a Header setting, then type the header eyebrow and title. The preview shows exactly what the render will draw.
- Open Studio > Frame & brand.
- Pick a Frame: - Banner: a header strip over the video - Framed: brand background, logo, rounded video - Studio: framed, with a step list beside the video
- Pick a Theme: Midnight, Daylight, Corporate or Warm. A brand kit's colours replace the theme.
- Pick a Header setting: - Auto decides after the scan. If it finds a browser bar, the header covers it. If not, the video shrinks under the header. - Over the browser bar covers the top of the recording. In a framed layout it reads Crop off the browser bar. - Shrink video under it keeps the whole recording. - No header leaves it out.
- Adjust Header height (px) if needed.
- Type the header eyebrow, for example "CUSTOMER ONBOARDING", and the header title.
Also here:
- Step bar for viewers shows "Step 2 of 4" along the bottom, one segment per numbered step card.
- Callout style sets how cards look.
- Brand kit adds your logo, font and colours.
Tips:
- If there's no browser bar, covering the top hides part of the app itself. A warning tells you which setting to choose instead.
- The header title may be filled in for you from your script or the file name. Your own text is never replaced.
- With the Framed frame and STEP cards, the progress line gets a dot for each step.
How to make a portrait or square video and zoom in on highlights
In Studio, click 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 above the preview to choose landscape, portrait (1080×1920) or square (1080×1080). Tick Zoom in on highlights to zoom onto each highlight, and …and follow the pointer to follow the mouse between highlights.
These settings are above the preview while you're in Studio.
Choose the video shape:
- Click 16:9 for landscape, the recording's own shape.
- Click 9:16 for portrait, for phone apps such as Shorts, Reels and TikTok. It's 1080×1920.
- Click 1:1 for square, for social feeds. It's 1080×1080.
The whole recording goes across the width on the brand background. The title sits on top and cards sit around the video.
Zoom in on highlights:
- Tick Zoom in on highlights. While a highlight is up, the view zooms in on it, then glides back out.
- To leave one highlight out, untick Zoom in on it in that highlight's editor.
Follow the pointer:
- Tick …and follow the pointer as well. Between highlights, the view follows the pointer and typing. It zooms out when nothing small moves.
- This needs Prepare video first, because the scan notes where the pointer moves.
Safe-area guides:
- Tick Safe-area guides to see where phone apps put their own buttons. They show in the preview only.
Good to know:
- In Make it safe, the preview stays the recording's own shape.
- The shape and zoom are saved with the series and the project file.
- Rendering a final video in any shape needs Pro.
How to make every video in a series look the same
Set up one video, then click Save as series in Studio > Series (Pro). For the next video, pick the series and type its number and name, and the look fills in.
A series file keeps every video in a course matching. Loading and saving series files needs Pro.
Save a series:
- Set up a video the way you like: frame, theme, brand kit, header, intro and outro, audio and sharing level.
- Open Studio > Series.
- Type the Video number and the Video name, for example "Creating a quote".
- Click Save as series and type the series name.
- GlideClip downloads a .series.json file and remembers the series in this browser.
Use it for the next video:
- Open the next video and go to Studio > Series.
- Pick the series in Series. If it's not listed, click Load series file.
- Type the Video number and Video name. The header fills in.
What a series carries:
- Theme, Title Case, frame, shape, zoom, step bar, callout style and brand kit.
- Header, intro and outro cards and your card templates, plus segment card settings.
- Audio settings, sharing level, blur preset and never-blur list.
Good to know:
- The note under the buttons lists what was applied.
- With Pro on the hosted site, your series syncs to your account.
- Choose None to stop using a series.
Exporting
How to export a blurred safe copy, redaction report or blur plan
Open Make it safe > Export safe copy and click Export safe copy to make a free blurred MP4 on your computer. The same panel downloads a redaction report and a blur plan.
The safe copy is your video with the blurs burned in. It's free in every edition.
- Prepare the video and check Review blurs first.
- Open Make it safe > Export safe copy.
- If you trimmed or cut the video in Studio > Edit, choose whether to tick Trim the safe copy the same way.
- Click Export safe copy and pick where to save the file.
- Keep the tab open until it's done. Click Cancel export to stop.
- If your browser has no save dialog, click Download safe copy when it appears.
Also on this panel:
- Download redaction report: a text file for whoever approves the video. It lists the sharing level, each blurred item with its times and anything found but left visible. Only the first 2 characters of each item are shown.
- Export blur plan: a small file listing what to blur and when. It contains no video.
Good to know:
- The safe copy has blurs only: no callouts, frame or levelled sound. For those, use Render final video (Pro).
- In the free edition, the copy has a small "Made with GlideClip" mark in the corner. Pro removes it.
- If you haven't prepared the video, only boxes you drew are blurred. GlideClip asks before it goes ahead.
- Some browsers can only export by playing the video once. Then the tab must stay visible, and the copy can't be trimmed.
How to render the final training video
Open Studio > Render, click Render final video (Pro) and pick where to save the MP4. It's made in your browser with blurs, frame, callouts, intro, outro and levelled sound, and nothing is uploaded.
The final render makes your finished training video on your computer. It needs Pro.
- Finish your callouts, edits, frame and audio. Use Preview in a callout's editor to check one part.
- Click Render in the top bar, or open Studio > Render.
- Click Render final video.
- Pick where to save the file. It's named after your recording with "(final)".
- Wait while it shows Rendering, the time done and the speed. Click Cancel render to stop.
- When it says Done, the file is saved. If your browser has no save dialog, click Download final video.
What's in the render:
- Blurs, the frame and header, animated callouts, segment cards, intro and outro.
- Trims and cuts from Edit, with their fades.
- Levelled sound from Audio.
- The shape you picked: 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1.
Good to know:
- Without Pro, clicking the button explains what Pro adds.
- On a recommended computer, a 5-minute 1080p video renders in about 3 minutes.
- The file streams to disk, so long videos don't need extra memory.
- Keep the tab open until it's done.
- Need a blurred copy without callouts? Use Export safe copy, which is free.
How to save your work and pick up where you left off
GlideClip keeps your work in this browser as you go, so opening the same video again offers Pick up where I left off. To move work to another computer or a colleague, click Save project file in Studio > Render, then use Open project with the same video.
Pick up where you left off:
- Open the same video file again.
- A bar says You worked on this video before.
- Click Pick up where I left off, or Start fresh to throw that work away.
Your work is saved in this browser every few seconds: blurs, callouts, edits, the look, the transcript and AI data. The last 12 videos are kept.
Save a project file:
- Open Studio > Render.
- Click Save project file. A .json file downloads.
The project file has everything except the video itself. It holds blur positions and times, not the hidden text. Saving it is free.
Open a project file:
- In the editor: click Open project in Studio > Render or Studio > Callouts, and pick the file.
- From the start screen: click Open a saved project, then choose the video it was made from.
Good to know:
- The video is matched by its name, length and size, so use the same file.
- If the video hasn't been prepared, prepare it again to bring back its blurs.
- To clear saved work, click forget work saved in this browser in Studio > Render. Your video files and downloads aren't affected.
- A company policy can turn off keeping work in the browser.
AI data
How to export the AI data bundle and what's in it
In AI data > Export, fix anything under "Before you can export", then click Export bundle (.zip) (Pro). The zip holds guide.md, segments.jsonl, step pictures, captions.vtt and manifest.json, saved on your computer.
- Open AI data > Video details. Fill in what helps: System, Version, Who it's for, Before you start, Result, Owner, Review by and Video link.
- Open AI data > Export.
- Fix each item under Before you can export. Click one to go to it.
- Choose whether to tick Draw highlight boxes on the step pictures.
- Click Export bundle (.zip) and pick where to save it. This needs Pro.
What's in the zip:
- guide.md: the procedure, one heading per step, with its questions and a link or time.
- segments.jsonl: one record per step, with summary, actions, tags, Q&A, narration and times.
- screens/: one picture per step, blurred like the safe copy.
- captions.vtt: the redacted narration.
- manifest.json: source, policy, rights and how many items were blurred.
You can export when:
- The video is prepared and has STEP cards.
- Every step has a title and summary.
- In a company plan, required company fields are filled and it's marked Cleared for AI use.
Good to know:
- Text is masked wherever the scan found something, whatever the sharing level, except the never-blur list.
- Times are in the finished video, with trims and cuts taken out.
- Video link adds a "Watch this step" link per step.
- With a company plan, Company fields and Usage rights also appear.
How to write step summaries, Q&A and tags in AI data
In the AI data area, each STEP card becomes a segment where you write a summary, actions, tags and questions, and pick a picture. Draft from the narration is free; Draft with AI needs Pro.
AI data turns a finished, redacted walkthrough into material for a knowledge bot or your own AI tools.
- Prepare the video in Make it safe, and add STEP cards in Studio (for example with Suggest callouts).
- Click AI data at the top of the rail, then Segments. There is one segment per step.
- Click a segment. Check the Task name and the times. Use Start at playhead and End at playhead to adjust.
- Write the Answer-style summary: one or two sentences that answer "how do I..." on their own. Or click Draft from the narration.
- Fill in Actions, one per line.
- Add Tags: type a tag and press Enter.
- Under Questions this step answers, click + Add a question and type the question and answer.
- Set the picture: move the playhead inside the step and click Use the playhead. Automatic picks one for you.
Draft with AI (Pro):
- Draft N steps with AI fills empty summaries, actions, tags and questions for all steps. Draft with AI does one step.
- It sends titles, bullets, the redacted narration and screen labels as text. No video or pictures.
- Typed text is never replaced. Text written by AI is marked, so read it before you export.
Good to know:
- How the knowledge bot will see it previews each record.
- New tags can be kept in My tags with keep.
- AI data is saved in this browser and in the project file.
Account and billing
How synced settings work across computers
With Pro on the hosted site, your settings (look, brand kits, series, blur presets, intro and outro templates, tags) are saved to your account and follow you to any computer. Never videos, scans, transcripts or projects, and never the names and words you list to blur.
Synced settings need Pro on the hosted site.
What syncs:
- Theme, frame, video shape, callout style and Title Case.
- Brand kit, intro and outro cards and your card templates.
- Audio settings, segment card settings and sharing level.
- Your blur presets (which categories each one blurs), your tags and the series you're using.
- Whether AI suggestions are on.
What never syncs:
- Videos, scans, transcripts and projects.
- The names and words in your blur presets (always blur, never blur, blur next to): each computer keeps its own.
How it works:
- Sign in with Pro and open the editor.
- Changes are saved to your account a few seconds after you make them.
- On another computer, sign in and open the editor. Your account's copy is applied.
- If this browser changed its settings more recently, its copy is sent instead.
See or delete what's synced:
- Open your account page.
- The Synced settings card shows when they were last saved.
- Click Delete synced settings to remove them. Each browser keeps its own copy until you change it there.
Good to know:
- In the editor, Sent from this tab lists each sync as "Account settings sync (no video)".
- Reading and deleting synced settings only needs a sign-in. Saving needs Pro.
How to sign in, subscribe to Pro and cancel
Click Sign in in the editor to open your account page in a new tab, then sign in and subscribe to GlideClip Pro there. To cancel or change billing, click Manage account and billing.
These steps are for the hosted site.
Sign in and subscribe:
- In the editor, click Sign in (or Upgrade) at the foot of the left rail. Your account page opens in a new tab.
- Under GlideClip Pro, pick a plan and subscribe.
- Go back to the editor tab. It picks up Pro by itself, and your video stays open.
Manage or cancel:
- Click Account in the editor, or open your account page.
- Click Manage account and billing to update billing or cancel.
- Click Refresh subscription if a change hasn't shown yet.
- Click Sign out to sign out on this computer.
How the weekly license works:
- Your account page gives this browser a license that lasts a week.
- Visiting the account page renews it. In the last two days, the editor's button says Renew.
- There are 3 days' grace after it runs out. Then the editor goes back to the free edition.
- The editor never loads the sign-in service and makes no network call for its license.
Good to know:
- The badge in the rail shows your plan, for example Free edition or Licensed to ....
- Sign-in and billing are handled by Clerk, with payments by Stripe. Your videos never go there.
- Free features keep working if your license ends.
- On the offline edition, your company's IT installs a license file instead. There is no sign-in.
What's free and what needs Pro
Blurring, the safe copy, saving projects and trying every Studio tool are free. Pro ($29 a month, or $294 a year) removes the watermark and adds rendering, AI suggestions, series files and AI data export.
Free:
- Preparing, reviewing and blurring, with the redaction report and blur plan.
- Export safe copy, with a small "Made with GlideClip" mark in the corner.
- Every Studio tool to try: callouts, built-in suggestions, frame, intro and outro, audio, and Preview.
- Save project file and Open project.
- Writing AI data.
Pro, $29 a month, or $294 a year ($24.50 a month, billed yearly):
- Exports without the GlideClip mark.
- Render final video, in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1.
- AI suggestions for callouts, and Draft with AI in AI data.

- Export bundle (.zip) in AI data.
- Settings, series and brand kits synced to your account (hosted site).
Enterprise, annual license:
- Everything in Pro for your whole team.

- Company policy: blur rules, sharing presets, AI on or off and required fields for AI data.
- Can also run on your own web server with no internet connection.
Good to know:
- A button marked Pro opens a dialog that explains what Pro adds.
- You can cancel Pro any time.
- To ask about Enterprise, use Ask about Enterprise on the website.
Companies
How GlideClip works for company members (Enterprise)
Sign in on the account page as a member of your company, and the editor picks up your company's Enterprise plan and settings. Your admin can set what's always blurred, lock the brand kit, require intro or outro cards, limit tags and turn AI or transcription off.
On a company plan, your admin sets the rules and you use them.
Get started:
- Accept the invitation from your company's admin.
- Open your account page and sign in. It makes your company your active plan.
- Open the editor. It picks up the Enterprise plan and your company's settings.
What your company can set:
- Words, domains and categories that are always blurred. You can blur more, never less. These can't be kept visible with Never blur these.
- Its own sharing levels, which replace the usual list.
- A locked brand kit. It says "Set by ...: your company's brand kit. Only an admin can change it."
- Intro or outro templates. A required one is always on with fixed wording, but the title and subtitle are yours.
- A tag list for AI data. When locked, you pick only from that list.
- Required Company fields and Usage rights before AI data can be exported.
- AI suggestions or transcription turned off.
- Whether work is kept in the browser to pick up later.
Good to know:
- AI requests go through your company's own AI key, after the scan has masked what it found.
- There is a monthly limit on AI suggestions, set by your admin.
- Settings reach your editor when you next open GlideClip, and at least once a week with your license.
- Controls set by your company show a note such as "Set by" and your company name.
How to set up your company as an admin (Enterprise)
Open the admin page from the "set up your company" link on your account page. There you manage members and seats, the company AI key, what's always blurred, AI data fields, tags and the brand kit lock.
- Open your account page. Click set up your company to open the admin page.
- Members and seats: invite people by email and choose who's an admin. Every member, admins included, uses one seat.
- AI connection: paste your company's Anthropic API key and click Save key. Set AI suggestions a month, each member and For the whole company. Or tick Turn AI suggestions off for everyone.
- What's always blurred: tick categories, list Names or words to always blur and Company email and web domains. Choose Keep work in progress in the browser and Allow transcription.
- AI data: company fields: click + Add a field. Leave the choices empty for free text.
- Tags: list the tags members can use. Tick Members can only use these tags to lock the list.
- Brand kit and templates: tick Members can't change the brand kit to lock it.
- Click Save changes.
Brand kit and templates:
- Make them in the editor, where you can see them.
- Click Publish to company in Frame & brand or Intro & outro.
- When publishing a card, you choose whether it's required.
Good to know:
- The key is encrypted on GlideClip's server and never sent to anyone's browser. Only a hint of it is shown.
- Remove key stops members' AI suggestions until a new key is saved.
- Admins aren't forced to use required cards, so they can try things out.
- Nothing on this page sees members' videos.
Privacy and requirements
What computer and browser GlideClip needs
GlideClip needs a Windows 10/11 or macOS laptop or desktop with at least 4 cores and 8 GB of memory, and a current Chrome or Edge. 8 cores, 16 GB and graphics acceleration switched on are recommended.
GlideClip does all its work on your own computer, so the computer matters.
| | Minimum | Recommended | | --- | --- | --- | | Computer | Windows 10/11 or macOS laptop or desktop, 4 cores | 8 cores or more | | Memory | 8 GB | 16 GB or more | | Browser | Current Chrome or Edge | Current Chrome or Edge, with graphics acceleration on | | Graphics | Any | Any built-in or separate graphics chip with WebGL2 | | Disk | Space for the finished video, about 30 MB per 5 minutes at 1080p | | | Connection | Only to load the app, sign in and use optional AI | |
Good to know:
- On a recommended computer, a 5-minute 1080p video renders in about 3 minutes.
- Firefox and Safari are not tested yet.
- Screen recording works in Chrome and Edge.
- Tablets get the full editor.
- Phones get a "Best on a computer" page. You can email yourself the link, or tap Open the editor here anyway.
- The site must be opened over HTTPS for the license to be checked.
- The offline edition needs no internet connection at all.
- Close other heavy apps on an 8 GB computer, or every step slows down.
What leaves your computer and what doesn't
Your video and audio never leave your computer: scanning, transcription, preview and rendering all run in your browser tab. Only text is sent, when you ask for AI, with everything the scan found replaced by [REDACTED].
Never sent:
- Your video and its sound.
- Pictures of the screen.
- The scan results and the full transcript. Only the masked text described below goes to AI.
- Project files and saved work. These stay in your browser or wherever you save them.
Sent only when you use these features:
- AI suggestions and Draft with AI: text only. That's the transcript, on-screen labels, your script and step text. Everything the scan found is replaced by [REDACTED], whatever audience you chose. Only your never-blur list is kept as written.
- Sign-in on the account page, which runs in its own tab. The editor never loads the sign-in service.
- Synced settings (Pro, hosted site): settings only.
Downloads that only bring data in:
- The app itself, the text reader and the speech model.
Check it yourself:
- Look at Sent from this tab in the top bar. It counts every byte the page sends.
- Click it to see each send and what it was for.
- Click How GlideClip keeps videos on this computer for the security page.
Good to know:
- The page's security policy only lets it connect to GlideClip's own site, the sites it downloads code and models from, and the AI service.
- Work in progress is kept in this browser. forget work saved in this browser in Studio > Render clears it.
- The offline edition makes no outside requests, except optional AI.
Troubleshooting
Fixes for common problems
Use a current Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop, keep the tab open during long jobs and close other heavy apps. Below are fixes for slow scans, videos that won't open, paused exports and phones.
The scan or render is slow:
- Long videos take minutes. The bar shows how far it has got.
- Close other heavy apps and browser tabs, especially on an 8 GB computer.
- Switch on graphics acceleration in your browser's settings.
- See What computer and browser GlideClip needs for the recommended setup.
"This video format can't be read by the browser":
- Your browser can't play that file. Convert it to MP4, or record it again with Create clip.
The export says "Paused: this tab needs to stay visible":
- Your browser can only export by playing the video. Keep the GlideClip tab visible until it's done.
A button is greyed out:
- Many steps need a video open, or Prepare video first.
- Buttons marked Pro need a Pro plan.
- A note such as "Set by" and a company name means your company decides it.
Something looks wrong in Firefox or Safari:
- They are not tested yet. Use a current Chrome or Edge.
On a phone you see "Best on a computer":
- GlideClip edits on your own device, which a phone's browser can't do.
- Tap Email yourself the link to open it later on a computer.
- Or tap Open the editor here anyway.
Your work seems lost:
- Open the same video file again and click Pick up where I left off.
Fixes for screen recording problems
If Create clip is missing, use Chrome or Edge on a computer. If your voice isn't picked up, check your microphone isn't muted and watch the level bar move.
Create clip isn't on the start screen:
- Your browser can't record the screen, or you're on a phone. Use Chrome or Edge on a computer.
- You can still drop in a recording from another app.
"We can't hear your microphone":
- Check the mute button on your headset or keyboard.
- On Windows, check Settings > System > Sound > Input. On a Mac, check System Settings > Sound > Input.
- Speak and watch the level bar move.
- Pick another microphone from the list if you have more than one.
"The microphone isn't available":
- You declined the browser's permission. You can still record without it, or allow the microphone in the browser and try again.
"Nothing was shared, so recording didn't start":
- In the browser's picker, choose a window, tab or screen, then confirm.
"Sharing stopped before recording began":
- You stopped sharing during the countdown. Click Choose what to record again.
"Couldn't finish the recording":
- Try again, or record with another app and drop the file onto GlideClip.
Good to know:
- Pick the window you're demonstrating, not GlideClip's own tab.
- Sound from the tab or computer is only included when the browser offers it.
Fixes for sign-in and license problems
If the editor still shows Free edition after you subscribe, open your account page and click Refresh subscription; the editor picks up the license by itself, even in an open tab. If it says License expired, visit the account page to renew it.
The editor still says Free edition after you subscribed:
- Open your account page. Click Account or Sign in at the foot of the editor's rail.
- Make sure you're signed in to the account you paid with.
- Click Refresh subscription.
- Go back to the editor tab. It picks up the license by itself, without a reload.
The badge says License expired · Free edition:
- Your weekly license ran out. Visit your account page to renew it.
- In the last two days before it runs out, the editor's button says Renew.
The badge says License can't be checked:
- Update to a current browser.
- Make sure the address starts with https. The license can't be checked otherwise.
The badge says License not valid here:
- The license is for another web address. On a company install, ask your IT team.
"Couldn't load the sign-in service":
- Check your internet connection and reload the account page.
Good to know:
- The account page opens in a new tab, so your video and work stay open.
- Free features keep working whatever the license says: scanning, blurring, the redaction report, the safe copy and saving your project.
- On a company plan, sign in on the account page first. It makes your company your active plan.
Fixes when AI suggestions aren't available
AI suggestions need Pro, a prepared video and, outside the hosted site, your own Anthropic API key. If your company's policy turns AI off, you get built-in suggestions only.
Work through these in order.
- Do you have Pro? AI suggestions and Draft with AI need Pro. Without it, ticking AI suggestions opens a dialog about Pro.
- Is the video prepared? Click Prepare video in Make it safe. AI only ever sees text the scan has masked.
- Is a key needed? On the hosted site with Pro, no key is needed. Elsewhere, paste your key into Anthropic API key under AI suggestions.
- Has your company turned AI off? Then you get built-in suggestions only. Ask your admin.
- Is the AI box there at all? Some installs remove AI completely. Built-in suggestions still work.
Messages you might see:
- "Enter an Anthropic API key, or turn off AI suggestions." Add your key, or untick the box.
- "Couldn't load the AI library. Check the connection and try again." Check your internet connection.
- "The AI's answer was cut off." Try fewer steps at once in AI data, or a shorter video.
- "The AI declined this request." Try again, or use built-in suggestions.
Good to know:
- Suggesting again with nothing changed gives the same set. Shift-click Suggest callouts for a fresh one.
- On a company plan, there is a monthly limit on AI suggestions.
- If transcription is turned off, there's no narration to suggest callouts from.
